A lot of what keeps Hoverdale running smoothly happens quietly in the background.
Jane Barter looks after one of the most critical parts of the business — making sure our teams can do their jobs safely, compliantly and properly, even in high-risk environments.
From maintaining and improving ISO 9001, Avetta and SafeContractor standards, to supporting our engagement with industry bodies like MHEA and SHAPA, Jane’s role sits at the centre of how the business operates day to day.
What sets her apart is attention to detail. The things that are easy to overlook are usually the things that matter most — especially when it comes to safety, training and wellbeing.
Alongside this, Jane provides essential support to our Chairman, helping keep priorities aligned and the business moving in the right direction.
It’s not a role that always gets the spotlight, but it’s one that makes a real difference across the whole organisation.
Thanks, Jane — your work is genuinely valued.

National Apprenticeship Week
I started my career through an apprenticeship.
It gave me practical skills, discipline, and an understanding of how engineering really works — not just in theory, but on site, under pressure, where reliability matters.
That foundation shaped everything that followed.
At Hoverdale, we continue to invest heavily in training and developing people. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to support and train many apprentices and engineers — watching them progress from learning the basics to becoming skilled, dependable members of the team.
In heavy industry, experience matters.
But experience has to start somewhere.
Apprenticeships remain one of the most effective ways to build strong engineers, pass on real-world knowledge, and maintain high standards across the industry.
National Apprenticeship Week is a good reminder that long-term business success is built by investing in people — not just equipment.
